How COVID-19 Will Change Health, Hospitality and Senior Facility Design

Background: Based on recent experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic, designers and design researchers are crafting guidelines for development of future environments. In this context, paper focuses best practices regarding environments health, hospitality senior care. Methods: An extensive literature review was conducted, results which were distributed to a group experts ( N =12) specializing in design. After receiving their input, expert focus groups conducted further explore proposed concepts. The document revised based contributions these field experts, resubmitted additional ultimately summarized paper. Results: dozens recommendations made post-COVID seniors Healthcare facilities will require space, access outdoors, service hubs, infrastructure all conversion garages emergency use. Hospitality settings employ new cleaning methods, use robotics, improved HVAC, Wellness programming, workspace options, flexible food operations. Senior engage more technology, socially distance visiting facilities, increase nature, smaller scale residential clusters. Discussion: By considering health simultaneously, we come understand symbiotic benefits applying goals from one sector other. living an excellent example approach action. implementing some generated by research, be better prepared face challenges.
